I wonder if this is the beginning of the end of the world as we know it?
U.S. government shutdown today. What does that mean? Read here what is impacted by the shutdown.
Here are the comments of the president of the United States – Barak Obama before the shutdown:
“We urge Congress to act quickly to pass a Continuing Resolution to provide a short-term bridge that ensures sufficient time to pass a budget for the remainder of the fiscal year, and to restore the operation of critical public services and programs that will be impacted by a lapse in appropriations.”
They did not act as they were trying to blackmail Obama about Obama Care (Affordable Care Act) which means millions of Americans will have access to health insurance purchased through regulated exchanges. Finally, health care for all people who need it in the US – something Europeans have been enjoying and appreciating for nearly 70 years. I guess the Republicans rather like sick people in the U.S. paying for their bills by cooking and selling meth.
Obama’s words after the shutdown:
“This shutdown is not about deficits. It’s not about budgets. This shutdown is about rolling back our efforts to provide health insurance to folks who don’t have it. It’s all about rolling back the Affordable Care Act”
“This, more than anything else, seems to be what the Republican Party stands for these days. I know it’s strange that one party would make keeping people uninsured the centerpiece of their agenda, but that apparently is what it is.”
“They’ve shut down the government over an ideological crusade to deny affordable health insurance to millions of Americans,” Obama said. “In other words, they demanded ransom just for doing their job.”
“Think about that. If you buy a car and you’ve got a car note, you do not save money by not paying your car note. You’re just a deadbeat,” Obama said.
“If you buy a house, you don’t save money by not authorizing yourself to pay the mortgage. You’re just going to be foreclosed on your home. That’s what this is about.”
I understand that Obama is mad and hopefully most Americans as well. And, I fully agree that the Republicans make not sense and are destructive. Given their mismanagement during the 12 Bush Senior en Junior years, I am not surprised at all.
There is one major problem I have. Take away the Obama care discussion – aren’t the United States of America broke? They haven’t got quite enough dosh to be posh anymore in my opinion.
Even if the Republicans wouldn’t have acted how they did – The United States of America is practically broke. They are out of money. Bankrupt. They have been long beyond the point of no return. What would have happend if – would have been a stay of execution. Just buying time – a few more months or maybe a year before the total financial meltdown.
I wonder if the financial meltdown will be happening now or within a few months? Much earlier than I expected it.
God bless us all.
