The Senate Intelligence Committee released a report about the CIA interrogation techniques employed in counterterrorism efforts during the administration of President George W. Bush.
It is not lecture for the fainthearted. It includes: “rectal feeding,” sleep deprivation, insects, use of diapers, and mock executions. “rectal hydration” was used as a means of “behavior control.” It also includes CIA officers threatening to hurt, rape, and kill family members of detainees.
The best thing? The CIA paid two consultants USD $ 81 million to come up with all of it.
The second best thing: these methods were often found to have achieved little to no actionable intelligence. “NO useful information so far”
Ready for the conservative guess, at least 25 people were wrongfully detained and tortured.
You might want to read the full report, you might not want to.
Summary: A lot of tax payer money was used to torture innocent people with no result.
The report can be found here.
Question: will there be prosecution of all people involved?
Answer: probably not. They are sipping champagne somewhere.
